Most roof problems look worse from the inside than they are. But some look fine from the street and are actually serious. The only way to know is to get up there and look properly — at the slates, the underlay, the ridge, the flashings and the gutters. We find the source of the problem, not just the symptom, and give you an honest assessment of whether a repair will actually hold.
Inspection from scaffold or roof ladder
We don't quote repairs from the ground. We get up on the roof, check the area around the reported problem and look for anything else that needs attention while we're there.
Honest assessment
We'll tell you exactly what's wrong and what the options are: repair, partial re-roof, or full re-roof. If a repair is the right call, we'll do it. If it isn't, we'll tell you why.
Slipped or broken tiles/slate
Repositioned or replaced. We carry a stock of common tiles and slates in the van for same-day repairs on most standard materials.
Ridge tile work
Failed or loose ridge tiles re-pointed or replaced. Dry-fix ridge systems retrofitted where traditional mortar bedding has failed repeatedly.
Lead work & flashings
Failed lead at chimney abutments, valleys or parapet walls re-dressed or replaced. Properly formed, not just pointed over with mastic.
Gutters & downpipes
Blocked or broken gutters often cause water ingress that looks like a roof leak. We check and clear gutters as part of any leak investigation.

My roof is leaking — what should I do first?
If water is actively coming in, put something down to catch it and call Adam. Don't try to get on the roof yourself — it's dangerous, particularly on wet slate or tile. If the leak is through a ceiling, don't dismiss it even if it seems small — a slow leak can do significant structural damage over time. We'll get someone out as quickly as possible.
Can you come out the same day?
On most straightforward repairs — slipped tiles, failed ridge, missing slate — yes, or within 24–48 hours. Active leaks get priority. Call Adam directly on 07564 950 910 to check availability.
How do I know if I need a repair or a full re-roof?
We'll tell you honestly when we look. If the underlay has failed across the whole roof, or tiles/slates are widespread problems rather than isolated, repeated repairs often cost more over 5 years than doing the job properly once. But plenty of roofs just need a targeted repair — we'll tell you which applies.
What causes a ridge to fail?
Traditional mortar-bedded ridge tiles eventually dry out and crack, usually after 15–25 years. Once the mortar goes, the ridge tiles become loose and can fall or let water in. Dry-fix ridge systems (mechanically fixed rather than mortared) are now the standard for new roofs and are a better long-term solution when re-bedding has already failed once.
My neighbour did their roof and now mine leaks — what's happened?
This does happen — usually at a shared flashing or where scaffold has disturbed tiles. Call Adam and he'll come out and have a look. If the fault is clearly from work done on the adjacent property, we can document it with photos.
