The process

How we replace
fascias and guttering.

Fascia boards carry the guttering and seal the bottom of the roof. When they rot — as timber fascias on any house over 30 years old eventually will — the guttering starts to pull away, water gets behind the boards, and the bottom courses of tiles or slates can be affected. Most UPVC replacements take a day for a standard semi, and make a visible difference to how the house looks as well as how it performs.

1

Survey & measure

We'll look at what's there — material, condition, profile — and advise on the best replacement option: like-for-like timber, UPVC capping over existing, or full strip and replace.

2

Remove existing guttering

Old guttering and brackets stripped back first. Gutters are inspected — if they're still sound they may be cleaned and refitted; if they're failed, we'll replace them.

3

Strip or cap fascia boards

Where the existing timber is rotten or inadequate: stripped back to the rafter feet, any rotten timber cut out and repaired, new boards fitted. Where timber is still sound: UPVC capping boards fitted over the top.

4

Soffit replacement

Where soffits are damaged or rotten, replaced with UPVC or timber to match the fascia specification. Ventilated soffits fitted where required for roof ventilation.

5

New guttering & downpipes

Guttering re-fitted to correct falls so water runs to the outlet. Joints and stop-ends checked. New downpipes where needed, discharged to drain or soak away.

Why us

Why choose A.P Roofing
for fascias & guttering?

Done with the roofing job

When we're on scaffold for a re-roof, it makes sense to sort the fascias and guttering at the same time. We'll quote it all together.

UPVC or timber

We fit both. UPVC is maintenance-free and the most common choice. Timber suits conservation area properties where UPVC isn't appropriate.

Correct falls on guttering

Guttering that's level doesn't drain — it overflows at the joints. We set every run to a slight fall toward the outlet. Sounds obvious; it's amazing how often it's wrong.

No deposit, pay on completion

Same as every job — you don't pay until it's done and you're happy.

26 years fitting fascias

Adam has been fitting fascia and guttering as part of roofing jobs since he was 16. It's never an afterthought.

Tidy every day

Old fascia and guttering disposed of, site swept. You won't come home to old boards in the drive.

FAQs

Questions about
fascia & guttering in Leicester.

How do I know if my fascias need replacing?

Look for paint peeling, soft or spongy boards when pressed, guttering that's pulling away from the house, or visible rot at the corners. From the inside, check the loft for daylight or moisture coming in at the eaves. If you can see the problem from the ground, it's usually been there a while.

Can you fit UPVC over my existing timber fascias?

Often yes — if the existing timber is still structurally sound, UPVC capping boards can be fitted over the top. This is quicker and cheaper than a full strip. If the timber underneath is rotten, we strip it out and replace — capping over rotten wood just delays the problem and can cause moisture to be trapped.

My gutters are overflowing — do I need new gutters or just cleaning?

Often just cleaning. Gutters full of moss and debris from the roof will overflow in any heavy rain. We can clear and re-set the falls when we're on the roof anyway. If the gutters themselves are cracked, sagging or poorly jointed — then replacement is the better call.

What colour UPVC do you fit?

White is the most common and usually the best match for existing trim. We can also fit black, brown or anthracite grey where it suits the property or is required in a conservation area. Ask Adam and we'll advise on what looks right.

Can you just do the guttering without the fascias?

Yes — if the fascias are still sound, we can replace guttering and downpipes as a standalone job. We'll check the boards are adequate for new guttering brackets before we start.

Do you cover fascia and guttering work across Leicestershire?

Yes — Leicester city and the whole county. Glenfield, Oadby, Hinckley, Loughborough, Coalville, Blaby, Syston and surrounding villages. Give Adam a call.
